The Doctor’s have revealed that they will maintain their strike save for emergency situations despite the pressure from Government to return to work.
Yesterday while speaking to the people of Kabarole District, President Museveni revealed that Government is going to fire the doctors who have gone on strike and will appoint new ones
However, today the Doctors under their umbrella Uganda Medical Association called a news conference where they revealed that they will maintain the strike despite the President’s threat to fire them.
They maintain that they will only work in emergency situations
They have also advised their colleagues who are under-fire not cower revealing that they will be accorded the legal support and maintain that they are still willing to negotiate with Government.
The Doctors have also welcomed the move by Government to bring in doctors from the armed forces to help during the standoff but believe it will yield much
The Minister for Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng revealed that the President’s remarks that Government will fire all the doctors came as result of the Doctor’s frustrating negotiations
