The Attorney General has been tasked by President Yoweri Museveni to quicken the process of endorsing the legal framework, for lawyers to work anywhere in East Africa.
The President was speaking to lawyers at the 22nd East Africa Law Society Annual Conference convened at Imperial Resort Hotel under the theme
"future proofing of the legal profession in the East Africa region"
However, Attorney General William Byaruhanga says bureaucracy has been the major hindrance but the legislation will help.lawyers work seamlessly across the East African region.
The President who is also the chairman of EAC also launched the African legal support facility Academy project urged the lawyers to.embrace the integration with a view to economic empowerment.
France Gimara says the aspirations of the East African common market protocol have not been achieved in the region.
According to Gimara lawyers within the East African region are confined to state Jurisdiction and can only practice within their country unless the Heads of Government sign the new legal framework.
