The Judge noted that it is not in dispute that none of the Bridge academies has been registered nor fully licenced by ministry of education to operate.

The High court in Kampala has okayed the ministry of education's decision to close 63 Bridge International Academies countrywide, for operating in contravention of the law.

Justice Patricia Basaza dismissed, with costs, the case by Bridge against the Attorney General saying that the permanent secretary of the ministry of education had made all necessary efforts to engage the applicant to remedy the inadequacies in its operatiosn but Bridge had not taken the requisite action.

The Judge also noted that it is not in dispute that none of the Bridge academies has been registered nor fully licenced by ministry of education to operate.

According to the ministry's inspection report there were cases of inadequate water supply, dysfunctional hand washing facilities and, in some schools, no proper toilet facilities.

Bridge International Academies Ltd had dragged government to court seeking to quash the decision of the ministry of education PS, dated July 25th 2016, which directed the closure of all the applicant’s academies in Uganda, over poor sanitation and quality of the curriculum.

The applicant who operates 63 academies in several districts in Uganda comprising of 12,000 pupils had accused the ministry of condemning them without according them a fair  hearing.
