Government to increase surveillance and deportation of illegal immigrants

400 illegal immigrants have been deported in 2016 most of whom have been from the districts Kampala, Mbale and Jinja districts.

Government says it will increase surveillance and deportation of illegal immigrants from Uganda.

Ludovic Kamugisha, the assistant commissioner of legal affairs in the immigration control department in the ministry of internal affairs ministry, says the decision to increase surveillance and monitoring was made to curb the increase of illegal immigrants in the country.

According to Kamugisah, 400 illegal immigrants have been deported in 2016 most of whom have been from the districts Kampala, Mbale and Jinja districts.
