Scheme will reduce case backlog and cost of trials

Records show that over 54,000 prison prisoners are on remand without trial.

Today the Judiciary alongside students of Pepperdine University in the United States, launched a plea bargaining campaign Kirinya prison in Jinja district.

Plea bargaining allows a defendant to plead guilty to a lesser charge in exchange for a more lenient sentence or an agreement to drop other charges.
