Former Teacher's Union secretary General James Tweheyo is challenging the conduct of elections without including the participation of over one million students of senior six, senior five and senior four students who are currently at school.

The High court in Kampala has issued an interim order staying Local Council elections countrywide, until the disposal of the main suit challenging the conduct of elections without including the participation of over one million students of senior six, senior five and senior four students who are currently at school.

This came hours after Jinja High court Deputy Registrar Jessy Byaruhanga issued a similar order around midday after a petition by a student, Ali Bwana Allan.

Now Kampala High court Deputy Registrar Sarah Langa has also appreciated this position as submitted by James Tweheyo's lawyers led by Caleb Mwesigwa and ruled that the elections cannot go on during the school term. The interim order will run until wednesday 15th November when the main case is heard and determined.

James Tweheyo a concerned teacher and former General Secretary of UNATU petitioned the High court in Kampala seeking for an Interim order restraining Government and the Electoral Commission and its agents from organising and conducting elections of Administrative units of village LCs 1, 2, Women Councils and Committee.
