The Constitutional court has issued an interim order halting the trial of Nakawa Municipality MP Micheal Kabaziguruka before the General Court Martial until the final hearing and determination of a petition he filed questioning the legality of this army court .
Presiding Justice Remmy Kasule ordered that the trial which was scheduled to commence on Wednesday 18th before the 7 members of the General Court Martial is suspended until the 31st January 2017.
The said order has was issued in the presence of Jane Francis Nafuma who represented the Attorney General and Medard Ssegona, MP Kabaziguruka's advocate.
Kabaziguruka faces charges of Treachery and offences relating to security in which the state says he connived with serving officers to contrive a plot to overthrow the Government of Uganda between February and June last year.
The FDC legislator spent several months on remand at Kigo prison until October last year when the Highcourt gave him bail. He then petitioned the Constitutional court challenging his trial before General Court Martial
