Doctors at the national referral hospital in Mulago say they need up to Shs5 million to treat a woman whose hands and ears were chopped off after a fight with her lover over a maize harvest.
Seven months pregnant and nursing serious injuries after her lover chopped off her hands and ears a month ago in Kyenjojo, Ninsiima Kabonesa is now on a steady path to recovery at Mulago hospital though she is in a lot of pain and suffers from terrible headaches.
Dr. Ben Khingi, a surgeon and consultant with the plastic surgery and burns unit says that Ninsiima lost a lot of blood, which partly explains the headaches she is experiencing.
Dr. Khingi says Ninsiima could be discharged in about three weeks but she will still need follow-up especially as she is about to give birth.
Ninsiima Kabonesa is currently struggling with basic needs such as food both for herself and caretaker.
Meanwhile as the search for Adolf Busingye continues. Ninsiima says she continues to receives calls from his number which is always on and off.
