The second phase of the construction of new roads in Masaka municipality under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development program has been launched by minister of state for urban development, Isaac Musumba.
The project had been halted last year after reports of alleged fraud in its implementation. However, the municipality was exonerated and government gave it more funds to improve the road infrastructure.
Musumba opened Yellow Knife street constructed using funds from the World bank, and also launched a Shs3 billion project in which Buddu and Grand streets whose construction had been previously halted.
Residents commended government for the completing of the Yellow Knife road saying that it had become a black spot for accidents and several lives had been lost on it.
