The opposition MPs say the continued house arrest of Kizza Besigye is illegal and an affront to his inherent rights.
Opposition lawmakers have embarked on an exercise to collect signatures to recall parliament back from recess to discuss the continued house arrest of Kizza Besigye, which they say is illegal and an affront of his inherent rights.
The MPs were reacting after Besigye was arrested as he was trying to leave his home on Saturday afternoon. The opposition legislators, who were led by Betty Nambooze, said from Tuesday next week they will begin collecting signatures to recall parliament.
Besigye’s lawyers led by Ladislaus Rwakafuuzi have also implored the Uganda Law Society to denounce the illegal detention of Besigye at his home.
