A South Sudanese national who accuses the police in Lira district of confiscating his property during a night patrol has decided to walk to Kampala to seek justice from the ministry of Internal Affairs.
Majani Majay alleges that police officers on a night patrol in Lira arrested him, took his property and 140,000 shillings.
He says his decision to walk to the internal affairs ministry in Kampala for justice comes after the Lira District Central Police Station failed to address his grievances.
By Monday afternoon, Majay had reached Kafu about 173 kilometres from Kampala and was having a rest. He is not sure when he will get to Kampala but Majay is determined
The Regional police spokesperson for North Kyoga, Ongom Odongo however says Majay should have exhausted all avenues to have the matter resolved before walking to Kampala
Emmanuel Mwaka Lutugumoi, the Acting Resident District Commissioner for Lira says the police should investigate and bring those police officers to book.
Majay is among the thousands of S.Sudan refugees who have fled into the country in recent years. He and his family have been living in uganda since 2014.
