Non-teaching staff at the 6 public universities are demanding a salary increment promised to them by the president.
The management of Makerere university has postponed the opening for the first semester despite a directive from the education minister Janet Museveni.
The decision to postpone the begining of the new semester comes as a strike by non-teaching staff in the six public universities, over a salary increment promised by president Museveni in 2015, enters the second week.
However, at Kyambogo university the management has obeyed the minister’s directive to open the university on 15th August 2016.
