NTV has learnt that the former Transport minister, Abraham Byandala, is considering plea bargaining to get a lesser charge in the Katosi road scam where about Shs24. 7 billion was embezzled.
Byandala who is currently the minister without portfolio is charged with abuse of office and disobeying the IGG’s orders.
Joe Semugoma, the former finance director of UNRA is also considering the option of plea bargaining.
Omn Wednesday, Wilberforce Senjako pleaded not guilty to two accounts of causing financial loss of Shs24.7 billion and neglect of duty.
The seven accused officials are said to have had a hand in the alleged fraudulent payment of SHs24.7 billion to EUTAW Construction Company, a shadowy firm involved in the construction of the Mukono- Katosi-Kyetume road.
