The construction of a super specialized hospital in Lubowa near Kampala could be a long way coming as the Balangira clan of Buganda insist that they legally own the land.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwiine says there was no dispute with the Balangira clan.

She told NTV that the construction of the hospital would begin soon even when the project was supposed to have kicked off five years ago

Last year, President Yoweri Museveni officially laid the foundation stone at the proposed site.

The hospital which is meant to handle sophisticated operations like kidney transplants and complex conditions will cost 250 million dollars, approximately about 890 billion shillings. The Italian government is one of the key funders of the hospital meant to save Ugandans from paying expensively for treatment abroad.

In August 2017, Louella Ataro, a senior lands registrar in the lands ministry based in the Wakiso Zonal Office told the land probe that a man she didn't identify promised to pay her a huge sum of money if she helped him acquire the title to the disputed land.

Even upon intense grilling, the lady couldn’t reveal the amount.

NTV has seen documents indicating that the transfer forms by a company called Mitchell Courts which sold the land to government didn’t include plot 101 on which the disputed land sits.

Sources told NTV that government could be panicking since the Italian investors promised to withdraw funding if construction doesn't begin soon.
