Kampala City Hall Court has charged a group of 5 Karamajong women with offences relating to trading without a valid licence within the city.
The 5 appeared with their breastfeeding babies before Grade one magistrate Patrick Tarisuna.
Of the 5, two pled guilty to the offence and were sentenced to a caution and a suspended sentence of 6 months is also to linger on their heads.
The 3 were consequently sent on remand at Luzira prison until Friday this week and state prosecutor Elijah Ndamurani informed the court that he will amend the charge sheet to include charges of child trafficking.
The group was arrested on Monday afternoon in the areas of Mutundwe in Makindye division Kampala city in an operation carried out by KCCA law enforcement officers.
According to the charge sheet, the accused are engaged in the illegal selling of groundnuts, mangoes and biscuits along the streets.
