Doctors under their umbrella body Uganda Medical Association have condemned the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services of politicking the issue of collecting blood from the forum for Democratic party headquarters where people had gathered to donate blood.
Yesterday people gathered at the Forum for Democratic Change party headquarters with the intention to donate blood, as it has become known that there is a shortage of blood in the country.
To disappointment of the people who gathered, the Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, officials did not show up.
Doctor Obuku Ekwaro who heads the Medical association said the conduct of the blood bank was unprofessional.
Dr Obuku said this while the Intern doctors were calling off a strike that has been ongoing since the 7 of February.
However, the coordinator of field operations at the Uganda Transfusion Services William Mugisha, says the issue of blood cannot be politicised but the FDC officials were not clear when they requested for their services they instead went as concerned Ugandans.
