The Agriculture minister, Vincent Sempijja has been summoned to Parliament's committee of statutory authorities and state enterprises, over the role of National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS).
According to the committee, though NAADS was dissolved in 2014, it continues to operate and execute roles that were supposed to have been transferred.
The committee is now questioning the legitimacy NAADS.
This came out of a meeting between NAADS officials and Members of the committee. The committee was looking into audit queries in the Auditor General's 2013-2014 report.
According to the committee one of the key queries that they asked the officials was on the question of how they jumped off from there role of Advisory to getting involved in distributing items
They also want the minister to answer queries how NAADS that used to work on advisory has now started giving out tangible materials.
In 2014 the President Yoweri Museveni directed Cabinet to dissolve the infamous National Agricultural Advisory Services project due to its poor performance and that the funds which were hitherto allocated to the project be utilized to enhance agro based production.
