The Speaker of Parliament has instructed the Auditor General to commence an audit into the misappropriated funds totalling 720 billion shillings- a loan from the Trade and Development Bank- by officials from the Ministry of Finance.
After probing the matter, members of the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee recommended that Finance Minister Matia Kasaija be immediately censured for lying to Parliament about the need for the loan that was diverted to other things.
