General Sejusa faces charges including absence from duty without official leave, among other charges.
The first witness Brigadier Joseph Musanyufu, the Chief of personnel and administration in the UPDF, testified that Sejusa has never formally applied to retire from the army.
Sejusa's lawyers had previuosly argued that since their client had applied to retire, had spent years without being deployed on official army duties, and he was not being paid by the UPDF, he was in effect no longer a serving soldier.
