Kadama community in Nakapiripirit celebrates school construction launch

John Lonyee, the district councilor for Morita sub-county revealed that the school will relieve the students of their plight

The Kadama, a small ethnic community in Nakapiripirit district live in the remote Kadama mountains.

 

They have never had a school in an area whose population stands at 25, 000 people.

 

School going children in primary and secondary level have to walk over 20km to access education.

 

Many of the children in primary who can’t walk have been studying in a mud and wattle church.

 

There was euphoria when community elders announced that the first primary school will be built

 

John Lonyee, the district councilor for Morita sub-county revealed that the school will relieve the students of their plight 

The District Education Officer Nakapiritirit, Raymond Korobe, says the literacy levels in the community stands at a staggering 1%. 

Woman MP, Esther Anykune says that this was the first ever development project offered by government towards the community. 

Bernard Masaba, the coordinator fields of life, which is going to construct the school revealed that they have so far raised over 350 million shs . 

The Kadama minority community, which is marginalised have a glimmer of hope that its youngsters can embrace academia and scale heights that looked too monumental to face.
