Judicial officials in Iganga district are concerned about the increased case backlog as a result of the area not having a resident judge for more than a year.
Iganga chief magistrate Godfrey Kaweesa said the district was given a high court circuit in 2016 but since the pronouncement, the area has not had a resident judge and court infrastructure.
He was speaking at the opening of a high court criminal session at Iganga high court circuit.
The session is to be presided over by Justice Micheal Elubu, the resident judge of Jinja high court who will handle 40 capital offences within forty days.
