Former NSSF managing director David Chandi Jamwa has lost his appeal against the 12-year jail sentence given to him by the Anti-corruption court.
The Anti-Corruption Court meted out the 12-year imprisonment sentence to former NSSF managing director after he was convicted of causing a financial loss of sh3billion shillings to the fund.
Jamwa appealed his sentence in the court appeal and was granted 10 million shillings cash bail by the Court of Appeal, and 500 million shillings non-cash.
Jamwa has been on bail since 2011, pending determination of the appeal challenging his conviction and sentence, and after 7 years of freedom, the appeals court has confirmed his 12 years sentence.
Court of Appeal has also convicted Jamwa of abuse of office - a charge for which he had been acquitted in the Anti-corruption court. He has been sentenced for 4 years which he will serve concurrently with the 12 year jail term. He has been on bail for 7 years #NTVNews

The court of appeal also convicted him of abuse of office charges which the Anti-corruption court had dropped. He was given another 4-year jail sentence which will run concurrently with his 12-year sentence.
Speaking out on his conviction in 2011, the then Head of the Anti Corruption Court, retired Justice John Bosco Katutsi ordered that Mr Jamwa will not to access employment in any public office for ten years after serving the sentence.
“You had a hefty salary while working for NSSF yet a rated worker who contributes through saving cannot attain it until he or she is 50 years but you within a period of four days, you robbed them Shs4 billion,” wondered Justice Katutsi.
Court of Appeal dismisses Chandi Jamwa's appeal. He is to be sent back to jail. Details in @ntvuganda news. #NTVNewspic.twitter.com/1CCjc5ucGB
