Minister Kahinda Otafiire has put to halt the eviction of locals in forest reserves in Mubende by the National Forest Authority until cabinet takes a decision
This is after leaders in Mubende district held a crisis meeting barely after the NFA issued an order to evict over 60,000 from forests.
Alex Tumwesigye, a National Forest Association sector Manager in Mubende and Mityana Districts says forests including Kasolo, Muyinayina, and Lusiba have been encroachedThe meeting was also attended by the Minister of Justice & Constitutional Affairs Maj Gen. Kahinda Otafiire who underscored the need to rescue forest reserves from encroachment
The affected residents include retired UPDF officers who have vowed not to leave this land.Leaders in the district including the State Minister for Kampala who is also the Woman MP for Mubende District Benny Namugwanya and the MP for Kasambya Lewis Mbwatekamwa have pleaded with NFA not to evict the locals
