Hundreds of people flocked the Anglican Martyrs Shrine in Namugongo, Wakiso to say their farewells to former Archbishop Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo who passed away on Friday.
Several government officials and members of parliament among others were at the burial.
Also in attendance were members of the Inter-Religious Council and Joint Christian Council.
The family of the late Archbishop appreciated efforts of friends, relatives, the church, and government, calling on them to carry forward Nkoyoyo’s legacies and keep alive the projects in which he was involved.
Nkoyoyo was hailed as a man of dignity, and a leader who preached about Unity and Development.
The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga carried Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s condolence message.
The Archbishop of Kampala Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga urged the state to stop condemning church leaders especially as they speak to the needs of their flock.
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stanley Ntagali prayed for Parliament to justly deliberate on issues affecting the country and its people.
Vice President Edward Sekandi delivered President Museveni’s speech.
