The Anglican Church is mourning the death of retired Archbishop Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo who was the head of the church of Uganda in between 1994-2004.
Nkoyoyo succumbed to Pneumonia at Kampala Hospital on the 5th of January 2018 at the age of 82.
The late Archbishop’s relatives told NTV that he was admitted at Kampala hospital on 1st January after his condition deteriorated.
Before his death, Nkoyoyo spent six months in the UK undergoing treatment for cancer of the throat.
According to the tentative programme released by the Church of Uganda, Nkoyoyo will be buried on Tuesday next week at the Anglican Martyr’s shrine in Namugongo.
This will be after funeral services at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero, Mukono and Namirembe Cathedral.
The Archbishop of Uganda Stanley Ntagali described the late Nkoyoyo as a faithful Christian who served both his church and Country.
Nkoyoyo who was ordained a priest in 1969 served as the Archbishop of Church of Uganda from 1995- 2004.
Nkoyoyo will be remembered for his numerous contributions to both Church and country with his efforts towards the construction of the Uganda martyrs museum at Namugongo being one of his more recent achievements.
