Lwengo LC5 Chairperson George Mutabaazi and other local leaders say that patrol policemen are few and it will be difficult for them to hunt down the thugs and bring an end to violent crime.

After 10 people were injured and 5 killed in attacks in Bukomansimbi district, Police was deployed in Kibinge sub-county in Bukomansimbi district and in the border villages in Lwengo district.

However, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi the State Minister for Youth and Children’s Affairs is advising that the best remedy would be to evenly distribute police posts and involve reserve forces instead of police foot patrols.

Lwengo LC5 Chairperson George Mutabaazi and other local leaders say that patrol policemen are few and it will be difficult for them to hunt down the thugs and bring an end to violent crime.

The leaders emphasized that the community should instead embrace the neighbourhood watch to handle security concerns.

Some residents appreciated the deployment of police patrols while others asked the police to regulate the working hours for bars since criminals take advantage of the noise from the clubs to execute the attacks.

President Museveni and General Kale Kayihura this week visited Kibinge Sub-county where the killings took place and assured the community that security would be reinforced.
