7 people have perished in two accidents along different roads in the country over the last 24 hours.
Three people died in an accident at Kakatunda along Ntungamo- Kabale Road in Rukiga district. 14 who are in critical condition have been admitted to Kabale hospital.
Another accident, which occurred at Agwet village along Soroti road on the outskirts of Lira town claimed four lives of the same family with only one survivor.
According to the Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima, the accident along Ntungamo-Kabale road occurred around 7 am on Thursday morning claiming 3 lives among whom was a 3-year-old boy.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday night another accident occurred just outside Lira Town claiming the lives of 4 people from the same family. The deceased is a Lira based pastor Johnson Enamu, his wife Alice Apollo, his 87-year-old mother Alice Akiteng and their housemaid Sarah Angom.
According to Mohammed Bigirwa the OC Traffic at Lira Police station, a RAV4 registration number UAJ 119C rammed into a parked Isuzu truck that was parked at the roadside.
Bigirwa says the Isuzu truck had run out of fuel and though the reason the RAV4 rammed into the truck is not yet known, he says the element of speeding cannot be ruled out.
