Kayihura offers apologye over ‘operational mistakes’ during age limit debate

Kayihura, however, admits that there were mistakes committed during their operations which cannot be blamed on police alone.

The hallowed precincts of Parliament were turned into a scene of bedlam during the debate and passing of the Constitutional Amendment Bill NO.2 that saw the scrapping of the presidential age limit among others. 

Kayihura was today passing out 294 police officers at Kigo training grounds in Eakiso district who have completed a month’s training in long range shooting, pistol drills and martial arts. 

However, sections of the public continue to attack security agencies for using excessive force in attempting to evict opposition lawmakers accused of disrupting proceedingsThe Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, who superintend over the operation has credited the police for securing parliament from those he says wanted to attack it.Kayihura, however, admits that there were mistakes committed during their operations which cannot be blamed on police alone.Last week, Court bailiffs with assistance from police attempted to evict proprietors of Panamera bar in Naguru, a confrontation that left one person injured.Kayihura has now warned against supervising unlawfully evictions that taint the image of police.He cautioned them against the misuse of their ammunition.
