One person has died while another has been rushed to Mbale hospital in a critical condition following last night petrol attack on their house.
The deceased, Adam Wambede 28 a resident of Mugungu B in Busia Municipality succumbed to his injuries at Nabulola Medical facility where he had been admitted with severe burns together with his wife Agnes Nyaburu.
The deceased had just married Agnes Nyaburu who also sustained severe and has been rushed to Mbale hospital in a critical condition.
Joseph Malaya a neighbour who was the first at the scene of the fire, says he heard people alarm late in the night and when he moved out he saw the house on fire and had to break the door to rescue the couple.
The police took the victims to Nabulola medical facility.
Residents have attributed the petrol attack to a suspected adultery.
Rashid Ouma the landlord to the house where the victims have been renting has blamed the petrol attack on Ojambo Oduki a notorious criminal.
He says Ojambo had accused the deceased of snatching his wife Agnes Nyaburu while he was in prison.
A burnt wooden chair and rags of clothes show how severe the fire was.
Dr Christine Apio described the burns as severe saying she had referred the couple to Mbale.
Drama ensued at the health facility after one of the victims died.
Relatives of the deceased Adam Wambede blocked relatives of Agnes Nyaburu from being taken in the ambulance saying dead body should be taken first and the patient later.
After a bitter exchange, the relatives of the deceased calmed down and allowed the patient to be taken to Mbale for further treatment.
