Traditionally cocoa grows under natural shades provided by other trees.

Sulait advises that in preparation of the land for planting, a farmer should pick land which will protect the cocoa from direct sunlight and winds.

He also says that Its proper to Weed 3 to 4 times a year and this should be done by ring weeding around the cocoa trees and slashing along the rows of the cocoa trees.A cocoa tree can live for more than 75 years if well looked after by the farmer.

Harvesting Cocoa involves removing ripe pods from the tree and opening them to extract the wet beans.

Tayali helped by his children harvests one tonne per harvest.

However, he is worried about the cocoa price fluctuations.

He says that change of prices discourages farmers, and makes its hard to keep planting the crop.
