President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir of the Sudan has concluded his 2-day state visit to Uganda.
The Sudanese leader made the visit at the invitation of President Yoweri Museveni.
The two leaders held one on one talks at Statehouse Entebbe, and at the end of the talks, a joint communique was issued by the two countries foreign ministers Hon. Okello Henry Oryem of Uganda, and Hon. Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour of Sudan.
According to the communique, the leaders witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Higher Education between the two countries.They also ordered their ministers to conclude all pending Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the areas of agriculture, sports and youth as well as security before the two countries' next Joint ministerial commision that will be hosted by Uganda in March 2018.
While on the situation in Somalia, the two leaders called upon the international community to support the building of the country’s institutions, particularly in the security sector, to enable the Government to deal with the challenges posed by terrorist groups and stabilize the country.
However, Bashir's visit was not without controversy considering the fact that he is wanted by the international criminal court.
His visit was condemned by the European Union, and civil society organisations which called on Uganda to meet its international obligations and arrest the Sudanese leader.

Bashir was seen off this evening at Entebbe International Airport by his host President Museveni.
