A 24 year old woman called Hadijah Nakalema who was hit by a stray bullet in Bulenga, Wakiso district is blaming police for bungling the investigation into stray bullet. On 19th March this year, Nakalema was struck by a stray bullet in her stomach causing serious damage to her intestines.

"I heard gunshots and shortly afterwards my daughter started screeming", Nakalema's mother Bennah Namubiru told NTV.

At the roof top of Nakalema's bedroom is a hole where the bullet is believed to have passed before it hit her stomach. The family suspects that the shot was fired from their neighbours compound.Medical documents from Mengo hospital indicate that a bullet shot Nakalema and it was recovered from her stomach.

"My abdomen hurts and I cannot carry anything heavy'', Nakalema said in tears. Nakalema and her family lack financial resources.

Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Emillian Kayima, has promised to re-investigate Nakalema's case at Bulenga police whom the family accuses of bungling the case because the gun belonged to a police officer.
