IGP bans wearing of red shirts and ribbons at Mandela National Stadium

Politics reared its ugly head this afternoon when the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura imposed a ban on wearing red-shirts and ribbons at Mandela National stadium.

Kayihura revealed that only those with red Cranes jerseys would be allowed into the stadium to watch the Cranes take on Ghana in a crucial World cup qualifier game.

The IGP told journalists that there was a plan by the opposition to use the match to solicit support against the age limit amendment, a decision, which left a bitter taste in the mouth of football supporters.
