Ongwen trial: ICC, Danish embassy donate TV sets and radios to enable public follow proceedings

The project, dubbed “Access to Justice” will see video screens erected in 23 communities including the home of Dominic Ongwen whose trial has began at the Hague in the Netherlands.

The International Criminal Court and the Danish Embassy in Uganda have partnered to provide residents of Acholi sub-region with TV sets and radios to enable them follow proceedings of the trial of the former LRA commander Dominic Ongwen.

The project, dubbed “Access to Justice” will see video screens erected in 23 communities, including the home area of  Dominic Ongwen. The trial will be relayed to the communities through radio and television links to their communities.

The one-year project will cost  210,000 Euros which is equivalent to Shs864 million.
