Some MPs have questioned the intentions of the executive in tabling just one bill yet the earlier pledge was to have comprehensive process to amend the entire constitution.
Deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana has tabled the Constitutional Amendment bill 2017 that seeks to give government powers to compulsorily acquire private land in public interest to execute infrastructural and investment projects.
Mps have expressed mixed reactions towards the amendment with some vowing to fight it while others say it is a good amendment albeit one that requires carefull handling and sensitization.
