Centenary park demolitions begin, NWSC to proceed with laying pipes

The long running controversy over the demolition of parts of Centenary Park in Kampala seems to have come to an end after some restaurants and bars were razed down early on Monday morning.  

The land is needed by National Water and Sewerage Corporation to lay water and sewer pipes to serve the increasing population in Kampala.

Alex Gisagara, the Director of Engineering Services at National Water and Sewerage Corporation said the works would begin on Tuesday.
