There was drama as both the opposition members of parliament and the ruling party fought for members to be designated on sectorial committees of parliament.
The standoff came after the Chief Whip of the ruling NRM, Ruth Nankabirwa, designated Maxwell Okora, a member of the UPC party, as the Vice Chairperson on the science and technology committee.
While NRM insisted that it was procedurally correct for the Chief Whip to designate Maxwell Okora, the opposition said it was an infringement on the administration of the opposition.
As tempers went up, Nankabirwa dropped her plan which saw the Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanya give the opposition two days to consult with the UPC party on the way forward.
