The Court of Appeal has confirmed NRM's Lillian Nakate as the validly elected woman MP for Luweero distirct.
Nakate's election was upheld after 3 justices including; the Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma, Paul Mugamba and Alfonse Owiny-Dollo overturned the decision of High Court Judge David Batema, which had nullified Nakate's election on grounds of voter bribery and non-compliance of electoral laws.
Nakate had appealed the High Court decision and petitioned the Court of Appeal in June last year in a bid to retain her seat, which had been declared vacant with orders that the Electoral Commission organises Fresh elections.
DP's Brenda Nabukenya dragged had petitioned High Court to nullify Nakate's election and Justice Batema ruled that she had successfully proved that Nakate gave a savings group at Vvumba village in Butuntumula sub-county shs100, 0000 as an inducement for its members to vote for her.
