Businessman Guster Lule, popularly known as Ntake, seeks to evict the residents, saying he legally acquired the land.

The commission of inquiry into land matters has visited a village in Wakiso District where a businessmen is locked in a wrangle with squatters he seeks to evict.

The dispute stems from the boundaries of the land, which are not clear. The commission resolved to send a new team of surveyors to open up the boundaries to help resolve the misunderstanding.

The land in dispute is located at Kitoko Village, Mutungo parish in Makindye-Sabagabo Municipality. The businessman Guster Lule, popularly known as Ntake, seeks to evict the residents, saying he legally acquired the land. Lule claims he bought the 30 acres of land located near Lake Victoria about seven years ago at Shs1.5 billion.

Guided by land surveyors from Makerere University, the seven member commission led by Court of Appeal Justice Catherine Bamugemereire studied the three plots of Land - 83/84/85 that are in dispute before meeting the aggrieved residents.

Some of the locals and squatters on the land who appeared before the commission, claimed that Lule did not know the boundaries of the 30 acres of the land he claims to own.

After inspecting the Land, the commissioners held a meeting with the two parties and area local leaders to seek an amicable settlement.

Guster Lule told the commission that while buying the land, the owner Mr. Henry Sentoogo informed him that it was not encumbered or free of squatters but when he came on the ground, he found people, leading to the misunderstanding.

On his part, Mr. Sentoogo told the commission that he only sold 30 out of the 35 acres of land he owned to Mr. Lule, leaving out 5 acres for the squatters to share amongst themselves.

After listening to the three parties, the commission resolved to send a team of independent surveyors to establish the real owners of the land.
