Offices of Observer newspaper broken into, 16 computers stolen

Police investigating the incident found the security guard Isaac Chibet’s uniform and gun on the premises, but he cannot be contacted as his phone is switched off.

More than 16 computers at the Observer newspaper headquarters have been stolen in a break-in. This is the second incident of its kind in a space of six months at the paper’s offices in Kamwokya, Kampala.

Outgoing Managing Director Richard Kavuma says the motive of the break-in is still unclear.
