Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has promised to retire in three years when he clocks 70, the retirement age of the Chief Justice and senior justices as specified in the Constitution.

Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has promised to retire in three years when he clocks 70, the retirement age of the Chief Justice and senior justices as specified in the Constitution.

Katureebe who spoke to NTV at his office at the High Court building in Kampala, says he is tired and would not an extension of his tenure as head of the Judiciary.

President Yoweri Museveni stoked controversy in 2014, when he tried to extend the tenure of then Chief Justice Benjamin Odoki who had clocked the retirement age.

The Chief Justice Katureebe confirmed to NTV that the names of three Justices who have retired have been forwarded to Judicial Service Commission for consideration of extension to alow them complete pending work.
