URA board denies prior knowledge of Shs6 billion handshake

The board of directors of Uganda Revenue Authority did not play any role in the spending of Shs6 billion from the tax body's budget to reward 42 government officials following a tax case in London. 

Chairman of the board Dr. Simon Kagugube told the parliamentary probe investigating the payout that the board officials only learnt last week that money was paid out from the URA budget.     

URA Commissioner General Doris Akol was tasked to explain how she became the accounting officer for the transaction.
